These Models Share the DIY Lip Scrubs They Can’t Live Without

As House Stark reminds us, “Winter is coming.” And if you’re like Khaleesi, meaning you can maintain miraculously lush lips through the Arctic chill of winter, then good for you. But the rest of us are going to need some help this year.

Even beauty goddesses like models Lindsay Ellingson and Olivia Culpo, and actress Priyanka Chopra, make sure to care for their lips with all natural lip scrubs. And what’s more, they make the scrubs themselves.

In an interview with Byrdie, Ellingson shared her homemade Sugar Lime Lip Scrub recipe, which she said can rejuvenate those once “soft, supple lips and prep them for any lipstick application.” The concoction is a mixture of raw sugar, coconut oil, raw honey, and lime (emphasis on raw, she's so au naturale). The sugar and lime pairing works as an exfoliator for chapped lips, while the honey and coconut oil hydrate and replenish.

Ellingson added an extra tip for us too: Not only is coconut oil a wonderful use in this scrub and in the kitchen (she adds it to her coffee), but it also triples as a makeup remover. “It’s great for getting really stubborn waterproof makeup off my eyes,” she said.

Olivia Culpo shares the same DIY mentality—she has even been spotted doing her own makeup before red carpet events! From her Snapchat story on People, she uncovered the secret to those plump lips!

And guess what? It's the easiest DIY beauty product yet: just brown sugar and honey. To make the scrub, simply mix equal parts brown sugar and honey together. Rub the concoction on your lips for a minute, wipe, and voila! You've got lips smoother than butter. Take that Khaleesi.

Priyanka Chopra, another beauty icon, also shared her top secret sea salt lip scrub recipe. In an interview with Vogue, she revealed an organic beauty trick that has been in the family for generations. "This has been taught to us by our mums and grand-mums," she explained.

The recipe is simple. In a bowl, add a pinch of sea salt, a few drops of glycerin, and a couple drops of rose water for hydration. Mix the ingredients together and rub for "plumper, pinker, smoother lips instantly," as she said. If you want some brightener to your scrub, add a touch of lemon juice.

Whether you choose Lindsay Ellington's sugar lime concoction, Olivia Culpo's sugar and honey mixture, or Priyanka Chopra's sea salt scrub, these women prove that natural beauty is the best kind of beauty.

If all else fails, just remember Priyanka Chopra's motto: "If you can walk out of the door with no foundation, you're at your beauty best."
